IPV/CC Across the Globe; We Need to Catch Up

Other countries get it. They’re recognizing the abuse of children in #familycourts outweighs the “rights” of the abusive parent to share custody. They’re acknowledging that #abusedchildren are better off with only their safe parent. Children are finally being protected. Now were need to spread the word here.

I recently had a case in family courts in which the Judge intently listened to my testimony about the danger of an #abuser having ongoing contact with the child and his father. All contact was ended! And, of course, said abuser appealed to a higher court. This will also stop.

After ending my role as the #forensicexpertwitness I was then able to evaluate this child for trauma. The evidence was palpable, and more this child can get the help they need. This child’s trauma has resulted in halted development of their brain and has disrupted clear speech. Experiencing abuse themselves, and observing ongoing #litigationabuse of the safe parent, has resulted in a continuation of the child’s own abuse.

It’s all in the data of the testing, which is supported by the decades of research on #perpetrators and victims of #domesticviolence #childabuse and #coercivecontrol in these cases. We can do more.
